Fantastic place for all things outdoor from picnicking, swimming too mountain bike riding at all levels
Lysterfield may be one of the most popular multiuse parks in the Melbourne's South East. There's something for everyone from Walker's to runners to bikers, sailors and horse riders. For the bikers there's a range of trails graded from Green to double black. And the Commonwealth track is a good all round loop.
Did the long loop in anticlockwise direction and covered most of the trails, which are well sign posted. Good flow with lots of roots, occasional rock sections, variety of jumps & different sized berms. Toilets available near main picnic area.
Fantastic area to bring the family for a day trip, bbq or picnic! There is a boat ramp at on end of the lake and a swimming area at the opposite end to split the two and remove any dangers. There is plenty of wildlife around was not overcrowded even on a hot day! I highly rate this area to anyone.
Small carpark on the opposite side of Lysterfield State Park from the main carpark. Much closer to many of the more complex MTB trails, this car park is my regular, just less riding to get to the good trails such as Aneurysm and the State MTB Course. Definitely would recommend heading here, though be warned, on a busy Sat/Sun morning finding a park can sometimes be a little bit tough, though not too often. This car park however, is a little too small, and should be extended into the large gravel area next to it which is often used for events.
